Malaysian hacked into US Fed

AFP - Friday, November 19

NEW YORK (AFP) - – A sophisticated Malaysian cyber bandit hacked into the US Federal Reserve's computers and also stole nearly half a million credit and debit card numbers, US prosecutors in New York said.

Lin Mun Poo, a Malaysian resident and citizen, was arrested on October 21 soon after entering the United States and was indicted by grand jury Thursday, the US attorney's office in Brooklyn said.

He allegedly hacked into the Cleveland, Ohio branch of the Fed, the US central bank, and in separate attacks also stole more than 400,000 card numbers, as well as breaching the defenses of numerous other systems.

Poo, who is being held in pre-trial detention, "made a career of compromising computer servers belonging to financial institutions, defense contractors, and major corporations, among others, and selling or trading the information," the US attorney's office said.

The US Secret Service arrested the 32-year-old a few hours after he flew to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

"Secret Service agents seized his heavily encrypted laptop computer, which contained a massive quantity of financial account data and personal identifying information that he had allegedly obtained by hacking," the prosecutor's office said.

Brian Parr, the head of the Secret Service's New York office, said cyber crimes "not only affect our nation's financial infrastructure, but are also an ongoing threat to our national security."

Among the other alleged hacking by Poo, the Secret Service said he entered a Pentagon contractor's system "potentially compromising highly sensitive military logistics information."

Earlier this week, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned that cyber attacks pose a "huge" threat.

Think simple, Live simple.

A millionaire who was bothered by severe eye pain consulted so many physicians and was getting his treatment done. He consumed heavy loads of drugs and underwent hundreds of injections. But the ache persisted with great vigor.

At last a monk who was supposed to be an expert in treating such patients was called by the millionaire. The monk understood his problem and said that for some time he should concentrate only on green colors and not to fail his eyes on any other colors.

The millionaire got a group of painters and purchased barrels of green color and directed that every object his eye was likely to fall to be painted in green color.

When the monk came to visit him, the millionaire's servants ran with buckets of green paints and poured on him since he was in red dress, lest their master not sees any other color and his eye ache would comeback.

The monk laughed and said "If only you had purchased a pair of green spectacles, worth just a few rupees, you could have saved these walls, trees, pots and all other articles and also could have saved a large share of his fortune. You cannot paint the world green."

Let us change our vision and the world will appear accordingly. It is foolish to shape the world, let us shape ourselves first. Lets change our vision..!! Think simple, Live simple.

A Story About Appreciation

One young academically excellent youth went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; the managing director did the last interview to make the final decision.

The managing director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic result was excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year he did not score.

The managing director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarship in school?" and the youth answered "none".

The managing director asked, “Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old; it was my mother who paid for my school fees."

The managing director asked, “Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as a cloth cleaner. "

The managing director requested the youth to show him his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect to the managing director.

The managing director asked, “Did you ever help your mother washed the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me."

The managing director said, "I had a request, when you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning."

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily wanted to clean his mother's hands. His mother felt strange, happy but mixed with fear, she showed her hands to the youth.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly, his tears dropped down as he did that.

It was the first time he found his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises incited pains so strong that shivered her mother's body when cleaned with water.

That was the first time the youth realized and experienced that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to earn him the school fees. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had paid for his graduation and academic excellence and probably his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother's hands, the youth quietly cleaned all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, the mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the managing director's office. The managing director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes and asked: “Could you tell me what had you done and learned yesterday in your house?"

The youth answered, “I cleaned my mother's hands, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes."

The managing director asked, “Please tell me your feeling."

The youth said,

Number 1, I knew what is appreciation, without my mother; there would not be the successful me today.

Number 2, I knew how to work together with my mother, then only I can realize how difficult and tough to get something done.

Number 3, I knew the importance and value of family relationship.

The managing director said, “This is what I am asking. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the suffering of others to get thing done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life to be my manager. "

You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates, every employees worked diligently as a team, making the company's result to improve tremendously.

A child who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, he would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He is ignorant of his parents' efforts.

When he started work, he assumed every person must listen to him. When he became a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his staff and would always blame others.

For this kind of people, he can have good academic results, and may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel the sense of achievement. He will grumble and full of hatred and fight for more.

If we are this kind of protective parents, did we love the kid or destroy the kid?

You can let your kid lived in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it.

After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters.

It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way.

You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person.

The most important thing is your kid should learn how to appreciate the efforts and experience the difficulty and learn the ability to work with others to get thing done.
